Trauma Discharge Therapy

"Practically all illness and sickness, both mental and physical, has its roots in the kind of nervous system dis-regulation which is the result of trauma."

(Gerry Pyves)

Trauma Discharge Therapy is a new BodyMind therapy that aims to reduce the amount of Trauma carried or imprinted in our nervous system. This is a unique type of massage that is a powerful blend of Massage, Psychology and the very latest Neuroscience.

This was developed by UK psychotherapist and Bodyworker, Gerry Pyve (www.gerrypyves.com). It has been refined and developed through 35 years of full time clinical practice observation of the reactions of the clients to different form of touch.

This massage focuses on core bodywork movements that directly speak to the nervous system. It soothes and calm and help regulate the nervous system back to homeostasis. As a consequence of this discharge we build our resilience -the single most important aspect of our health and wellbeing,

What happens in a Trauma Discharge Massage?

One of the greatest danger in dealing with trauma is the likelihood of triggering ambient trauma - what psychotherapists call 're-traumatisation'. For this reason during consultation a few simple safety measures will be identified to halt any re-traumatisation.

A full health consultation and a discussion of exactly what touch movements you are happy to receive. Throughout the session, your feedback and input is essential as it is vital for you to feel safe and in control of the session.

When the session starts, it will be done in silence or with music that you have agreed to - this is so I can focus 100% on the movements and your body’s responses. The three primary movements of TDT are rocking, stroking and compression - all movements that talk directly to your nervous system and initiate a soothing response.

During the session you may find yourself drift off into a state of semi-sleep which is the ideal state for your nervous system to 're-set' itself.

At the end of the session you will be invited to give feedback on the session and what you are noticing about yourself - information which will then be fed back into your next session.

Clients can remain fully clothed for their session or massaged with oil.

It is recommended to have a  4 weekly session in order to feel the accumulative benefits. Client often feels lighter and calmer after their session.

First session will be 1.5-2-hours (£80) and then 1 hour at £50.00 thereafter.
